Overview
Starflower assembled a site layout, concept plan, and schematic design package for an ambitious 120 acre mixed-use development project in York Township, Michigan called Pure Park. This project includes residential units, two commerce districts, office space, and numerous public amenities, including a trail network, community gardens, a farmers market square, several pocket parks, and a botanical garden, which doubles as a stormwater management facility.
The design is predicated on environmental design concepts. High performance plantings were placed between development zones and point-source air pollutants adjacent to the site. These “EcoAction Zones” implement state-of-the-art scientific findings on biotic particulate matter interception methods. Compost stations are placed no more that 100 meters from any given residential unit, maximizing convenience and promoting sustainable waste disposal. Starflower designed this project under a rapid timeline, assimilating and applying ecological concepts seldom seen in design.
